Introduction
This privacy policy applies to the Data Scraper extension (hereby referred to as "Extension"). Data Scraper is intended for use "AS IS".
Information We Collect
The Extension does not require registration or any personal information to use. We do not collect your name, email address, or any other personally identifiable information.
When you install the Extension, a random anonymous identifier (UUID) is assigned to your installation. This identifier is used solely for aggregated usage analytics and cannot be used to directly or indirectly identify you. This identifier is also included in the uninstall page URL so we can track how many users uninstall the Extension.
We collect the following non-personal data through our analytics service:
- Installation events — when the Extension is installed
- Scraping activity — the URL of the page being scraped and the name of the data list selected or refreshed
- Export actions — the export format used (e.g. CSV, clipboard, Google Sheets) and the number of rows exported
- Filter changes — when data filters are modified
- User feedback — the star rating value when you rate the Extension
- Error reports — error name, error message, and a truncated stack trace when an unhandled error occurs, used to improve Extension stability
Important: The actual data you scrape from websites is never collected or transmitted to us. Scraped data remains entirely on your device.
How We Use This Information
We use the collected non-personal data to:
- Understand how the Extension is used and which features are most valuable
- Identify and fix bugs and errors
- Improve the Extension's performance and stability
Data Storage
Data you scrape, your filter settings, and list configurations are stored locally on your device using your browser's built-in storage (IndexedDB and localStorage). This data is never transmitted to our servers or any third party.
Analytics data is processed using memory-only persistence, meaning no cookies or persistent browser storage are used for tracking purposes.
Third-Party Services
We use PostHog, hosted in the European Union (eu.posthog.com), as our analytics and error tracking service. Analytics data is sent through our relay server before reaching PostHog. You can review PostHog's privacy policy at https://posthog.com/privacy.
No other third-party services receive your data through the Extension.
What We Do NOT Collect
- No personally identifiable information (name, email, address, etc.)
- No location data - No cookies for tracking
- No browsing history — only the URLs of pages you actively choose to scrape are included in analytics events
- No scraped website data — all data you extract stays on your device
- Analytics are only active in production builds of the Extension
Children
The Extension is intended for users over the age of 18 and is not directed at children under the age of 13.
Security
All analytics data is transmitted in encrypted form. Since we do not collect any personally identifiable information, there is minimal risk to your privacy. We are committed to safeguarding the confidentiality of the non-personal data we do collect.
Changes
We will continue to evaluate this Privacy Policy as we update the Extension, and we may make changes to the Privacy Policy accordingly. We will post any changes here and revise the date last updated above. We encourage you to check this page periodically for updates to stay informed on our privacy practices. If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will provide you with notice as required by law.

By using the Extension, you are consenting to the collection and processing of non-personal information as set forth in this Privacy Policy.
